High Falls Conservation Area Volunteers
June 16, 2006

Over twenty community members volunteered on Friday, June 16th to help remove debris at CLC's High Falls Conservation Area on the Agawamuck Creek.

The idea for the work day began when Philmont resident and business owner Christine Friello contacted CLC to inquire about sponsoring a trail day. Christine's employer, XL America, Inc., encourages their employees to volunteer for worthwhile projects in their local communities as part of their "Global Day of  Giving Project".

Not only are the banks of the Agawamuck looking cleaner, but nine local youth also provided safer walking by helping to clear rocks from a portion of the main trail.  The volunteer day also gave us the opportunity to work along with three High Falls neighbors (with adjoining property).  The work day culminated in lunch at the overlook, which was generously donated by XL America.  Thanks to all the volunteers, with special thanks to  XL America, Inc. for encouraging their employees to contribute of themselves within their own communities.

If you would like more information on the High Falls property, or are interested in a tour,  please contact Joyce Carroll at the CLC office at 392-5252, ext. 206.
